Downsize Your Home: It May Increase Your Insurance Cost

downsize your homeWhen it comes to thinking about downsizing and insurance, people may be surprised to learn that your insurance costs may not be reduced simply by moving into a smaller home.

The cost of insurance is largely based on where you live. If you are moving from a large home in the country and buying a condo in downtown Philadelphia, there is a chance you will be paying more for home insurance and definitely more for car insurance.

Where you might see some savings is the reduction of collections such as art and other collectibles you sold when moving into a new home.

Next month I will be hosting a seminar about the steps to downsizing your home. Learn how to use an auction house and other resources as you down-size your personal property and prepare your home for sale and relocation. I will be joined by Tim Zeigler of Kamalot Auction House and Michala Costello of Kurfiss Sotherby’s International Realty.
