An Interview With Jen Gregorski
How long have you been doing what you do and how did you get to be an insurance expert?
I have been in the insurance industry for over 15 years. I started in claims before making the transition to my father’s insurance agency where we specialized in the non-profit, social service and medical facilities. We excelled in solving problems for our clients, such as cash flow issues or high claims. I bought his book of clients in 2009.
A defining moment in my business was navigating the industry in the wake of the economic crash. I believe all businesses needed to adjust to the changing and more competitive landscape since the crash weeded out the weak companies. The companies who were able to survive and thrive are those that have been able to be flexible and progressive. Realizing that my own company was in jeopardy if I didn’t diversify, in 2011 I was given the opportunity to join Farmers Insurance in their Eastern Expansion and merged my current business with my new company, Farmers.
I’ve created an agency with a specific goal which is also our tagline, “Making It Easy to Do Business with Us.” My staff and I have streamlined the process for people to make it not only easy to receive a quote, but doing our job as agents, to educate and advise on the coverages. We want people to feel comfortable stopping in if they have any questions or to pay their bills. So, I have located my office in a busy shopping center in Dresher and our weekly hours allow people to contact us late into the evening.
Who are your clients exactly?
I have a wide range of clients. I am able to assist both families and businesses with their insurance needs. I find the most successful clients are the ones who are looking for a long term relationship with an agency that offers a high level of personal service and knowledgeable staff who understands what is most important to them.
What makes your agency different?
The personal attention to our clients and the fact that we actually know our clients over a long period of time. This knowledge ensures we are asking the specific questions to make sure they are properly insured and their needs met. My agency does annual reviews with our clients to ensure we haven’t missed an opportunity to help. We will return all phone calls within 24 hours, although it’s rare that the call isn’t returned within the hour. For my business clients, I take the extra step of promoting their business. For creative clients, that may mean setting up a gallery in our waiting area or for others it could be a spotlight on the website.
Do you work with all the clients all the time?
As much as I would love to talk to all of my clients all the time, as the business owner I’m simply unable to. I have an incredible staff to assist me in servicing all of my clients in a timely manner. At this time, I do work directly with my business clients.
Who do you want to be a hero to?
I want to help the people whose families are the most important people in their lives. These people tend to understand the importance of things like life insurance and proper limits for their policies and are open to suggestions. The business clients I love working with are those that are either just starting their business or in an expansion. I really enjoy being of service by offering tools and tips to assist them with their risk management.
“I just want an apples to apples comparison.”
Every insurance company uses different tools to evaluate things like the reconstruction cost of buildings. Your current insurance may not have been reviewed in many years and you may not have adequate coverage. It would be a disservice and I would not be doing my job if I did not do an insurance review before offering a quote. If you are looking for a way to compare different values, cost per 1000 is a way to achieve this.
What type of person or profession is this program NOT going to work for?
The people looking for minimum limits and/or the cheapest price are probably not going to be happy with our agency. The premium for minimum limit policies with only auto tend to be the most volatile from renewal to renewal.
If you have two or more claims in the past three years on your home insurance, we will not be able to place you in Farmers. We can try to place you in our “sister” company, Foremost, but the policy is different and not as comprehensive.
I currently don’t have auto insurance. How will this affect my premium?
Farmers requires all auto policies to have 6 months continuous insurance. If you do not have 6 months of insurance, we can place you in our “sister” company, Bristol West for that 6 months required time-frame then move you into Farmers. Allowing your insurance to lapse will effect your premium negatively. However, once we establish good payment for 6 months, your premium will reduce.
